Hey DJ,

Currently listening to the soundtrack right now. Great work! I need to figure out how to do those diminished harmonized arpeggios during "Bound By Fate". That and "Foreboding Wind" are my current favorites so far. Will have to play the game now and circle back for the soundtrack.

By the way, who did your cover art? Love the style and in the market to have someone do my cover.

All the best,

-Aaron-

Thanks so much Aaron! Really means a lot to me that people are still finding this soundtrack four years later. I'd love to see you play the game as well! It was the game that made me realize a passion for storytelling I never kindled beforehand.

I have to give a special shoutout to Signals Music Studio for getting me educated on those diminished chords in Bound By Fate. The framework of that song was the way Signals describes diminished chords as "portals", easily allowing me to pivot between key signatures. I combined that with some Nobuo Uematsu influence and cooked up a retro battle theme with a unique identity.

The cover was made by myself using a custom map made in RPG Maker and either Photoshop or GIMP for all the text. The actual ingame graphics were made by my good friend and Haroldverse coach Sawyer Friend.

Hey DJ,

Thanks for getting back to me! Looking forward to diving into the game soon and experiencing the full context for everything. I always love when playing the game AFTER listening to the music first puts things into perspective or just changes it entirely.

Also, totally with you on Uematsu—his work has been a huge influence on me as well. (I’m sure that’s the case will all of us in the RPG faction of the industry.) I really like how you’re doing your own thing with that influence though. Foreboding Wind especially had that kind of eerie elegance I associate with his writing.

Thanks for sharing the video too—I'll definitely be checking that out!

That’s super impressive you did the cover art yourself. It just inspired me to do the same using RPG maker. (Though mine is WAAAAY more low budget looking than yours ha ha.) Major props to Sawyer Friend as well for the in-game graphics; everything looks great!

Appreciate you taking the time to share all this!

All the best,

Aaron
